Tripura: Brawl between BJP and Trinamool leaders mars auspicious Holi occasion

A clash occurred between Bharatiya Janata Party(BJP) and Trinamool Congress in Agartala.

The incident occurred when the Mandal president Jayanta Datta was attacked by few men headed by Sandip Roy Barman, brother of TMC MLA Sudip Roy Barman at RMS Chowmuhani on Monday afternoon when the former came to greet the club Secretary there on the occasion of Holi.

Getting the information, party secretary Amit Rakshit came to the spot where he was also attacked, the BJP crowd gheraoed ex Chief Minister Samir Ranjan.

During that time, some TMC workers came there after which the clash occurred between the two political party groups, both groups went to the extent of pelting stone at each other, in the process BJP vice president Subal Bhowmick, few policemen and scribes got injured in the process. They were rushed to GBP hospital.

A car which was run by local BJP office rammed a few protesters in front of the West Agartala Police Station during the standoff between the two parties in the city. As per latest reports, section 144 has been imposed.
