Tripura: BJP President flaunts victory in 2018 elections, statement sparks controversy!

Agartala, April 14: Bharatiya Janata Party president Biplab Deb has triggered a controversy for his speech stating Chief Minister Manik Sarkar, if cast vote for his party, it would go in favour of saffron party.
Deb’s statement created a controversy after BSP chief Mayawati’s allegation of BJP’s victory in the last Uttar Pradesh and Manipur Assembly elections due to massive manipulation of EVMs.
In a rally held at Khowai District’s Teliamura recently, Deb said that Tripura would witness next year what the Uttar Pradesh and Manipur witnessed in poll-verdict. Even if Manik Sarkar cast his vote for his own party, it would go in favour of BJP.
If he (Manik Sarkar) has the guts, he could lodge complaint against Deb.
Reacting to the statement, Left Front Committee convener Khagen Das said that they would knock the door of Chief Election Commissioner seeking proper action against the BJP head. They would also demand to assure them about proper functioning of EVMs as Tripura would go for Assembly polls in 2018.
” We condemn the BJP chief’s statement. His statement clarified his indirect confession about disruption of EVMs that made the BJP victorious in UP and Manipur Assembly elections. His statement also will create mistrust of voters over the electoral system. We demand ECI to take action against Deb and assure us about proper functioning of EVMs in the state’s coming Assembly polls,” Das said.
