Agartala Nov 12,2017: Around 5,000 teachers under Sarva Siksha Abhiyan would start ‘pen-down movement’ from November 13 throughout the state demanding for regularization in their job.
These SSA teachers sat for the hunger strike from August 1 in Agartala for a week to press the state government to make them regular like many other states in the country.
Later, they had withdrawn the movement with the intervention of Governor Tathagata Roy on the condition of taking an attempt to hold a tripartite dialogue regarding their demand.
“We are agitating for our regularization since many days. Despite the Centre allocates huge fund for regular teachers’ employees under the scheme, the government didn’t make us regular till now. We have given ultimatum to the government, but we didn’t get any positive reply. So, we have decided to go for pen-down strike and would continue till our demand is met,” said Bastab Debbarma, secretary of Tripura Sarva Siksha Abhiyan Teachers’ organization on Saturday.
He accused the Left government that the Centre allocates fund for 5,808 SSA teachers as was forwarded by the state government, but in reality, the number is 5,145. Among them, many of them got other jobs and many of them died.
” Our pay scale was not made according to 2017 norms released by the government. We also demand the government to clear our dues,” said he.
