CPI (ML) (Communist Party of Marxixt-Leninist) in a Press Conference today announced that they will not contest the upcoming Panchayat by elections and they have termed it as 'illegal and unconstitutional'. CPI(ML) also alleged that after BJP came into power, fundamental right of the people in the state has come to a dead end.
While addressing the Press Conference, CPI(ML) state secretary Parth Karmakar said "According to the rules of Panchayat- Act 1993, only in case of death, normal resignation or suspension from party the panchayat by-elections can be held. But here 3207 in Gram Panchayat, Panchayat Samiti 161, Jilla Parishad 18 seats are vacant. What is the reason behind so many vacant posts? These is because of the deteriorating law and order condition of the state".
It may be recalled that no indigenous party- neither the IPFT nor the INPT is going to participate in the upcoming panchayat by election.
