AGARTALA, August 4, 2018: Financial assistance has been announced by Tripura University to 200 economically backward meritorious post-graduate students from the state.

Dharurkar said, "We will conduct an exam for such students in each and every department. Altogether 200 students will be selected for the initiative. We shall arrange financial support for their higher studies and also will give them an opportunity to earn a living," he said.

He added that he has visited all departments of the university and saw that many centres like the centre of National Eligibility Test (NET) were closed down. These would be reopened soon.

"Every department will have to arrange lectures for students who are going to appear for the NET exam. At least 10 students should crack the NET exam from each department," said Dharurkar.

Professor Dharurkar joined Tripura University as its third vice-chancellor earlier in July this year. The university was ranked among the 11 non-performing universities of the country during the tenure of previous vice-chancellor professor Anjan Kumar Ghosh.
