Tripura: University announces financial aid to students in state
AGARTALA, August 4, 2018: Financial assistance has been announced by Tripura University to 200 economically backward meritorious post-graduate students from the state.
Vice-chancellor Vijaykumar Laxmikantrao Dharurkar, while speaking to the media on the sidelines of event, said that his university would financially assist 200 poor meritorious students to pursue higher studies. Placement support would also be given to them, he added.
Dharurkar said, "We will conduct an exam for such students in each and every department. Altogether 200 students will be selected for the initiative. We shall arrange financial support for their higher studies and also will give them an opportunity to earn a living," he said.
He added that he has visited all departments of the university and saw that many centres like the centre of National Eligibility Test (NET) were closed down. These would be reopened soon.
Professor Dharurkar joined Tripura University as its third vice-chancellor earlier in July this year. The university was ranked among the 11 non-performing universities of the country during the tenure of previous vice-chancellor professor Anjan Kumar Ghosh.
