Tripura: Eight persons arrested in lynching cases in state

AGARTALA, July 2, 2018: After three days of four murders which created panic in the city and out of which three cases were of lynching that have been reported in the state. 20 people were arrested and eight have been held by the police for being involved in lynching and 12 for spreading rumours.
On Saturday, SP Jalsingh Meena said, "There have been no more arrests in the murder of Sukanta Chakraborty, who had been hired by the government as an announcer to create awareness about rumour-mongering."
The rest are on the run. The state has been witnessing sporadic cases of mob violence over the past few days since an 11-year-old boy, Purna Biswas, was found dead earlier this week.
Police have arrested three, including Purna's maternal uncle, in connection with his murder, SP AP Singh said.
