Tripura: Bank property gutted by major fire

AGARTALA, June 5, 2018: The Laxmi Narayan Bari branch of Union Bank was gutted by fire on Monday afternoon, destroying all furniture, computers and other machineries.
The fire took place at around 3pm and continued for an hour before four fire tenders doused it. No human casualties have been reported. Officials are yet to give details of the cash loss.
Additional inspector-general Smriti Ranjan Das said a police patrol spotted smoke coming out of a window after which fire tenders were called in.
Firefighter Shankar Das said, "There was a lot of smoke. We had to break the glass to enter the bank. It seems to be a case of electrical short-circuit."
A bank employee said she heard "loud noises" from the backyard and saw a lot of smoke. Officer in-charge of East Agartala police station Debashish Saha said all bank property was reported to be damaged.
