Tripura: 11.15 lakh kids, teens to be dewormed in the state

On Tuesday, Tripura health minister Sudip Roy Burman said that the health department employees will de-worm 11.15 lakh students in the state on National De-worming Day on Friday.

Burman, while addressing a media conference on Tuesday said that "Students are the future of the country, to assure their future we are celebrating National Deworming Day on August 10 with the rest of the country."
He said that the programme aims to deliver de-worming treatment to all children and adolescents in state, so to improve their health, nutritional status, cognitive development and quality of life. He also added that students of all schools and Anganwadis will be administered Albendazole tablets to children and adolescents aged 1-19 years.
All children in the state will be mobilised by ASHA activists to be dewormed at Anganwadis, he said.
A total of 4, 942 teachers in the state has been trained to oversee that the tablets are administered to children properly, he said.
