Sikkim | PSSP organizes 26th anniversary of Nepali language at Geyzing

GANGTOK | August 28, 2018:
On Sunday, a programme was organised by Paschim Sikkim Sahitya Prakashan at Geyzing community hall to commemorate the 26th anniversary of the Constitutional recognition of Nepali language.
The chief guest for the event was Food and civil supply minister, N.K. Subba along with Minister S.B. Subedi, MLA Sonam Dadul Bhutia and Prakashan members.

The minister, in his address, appreciated the efforts of the Paschim Sikkim Sahitya Prakashan in protection and preservation of Nepali language through literary activities. He said literature-based activities help to uplift Nepali language and culture.
Recalling August 20 as a historic day, the minister said it was because of the efforts of the leaders and Indian Nepali community, the Nepali language was included in the eighth schedule of the Constitution. He stressed that literary activities should be organized not only on Bhanu Jayanti or Bhasha Manyata Diwas but regularly so that the new generation gets a platform to work on literature.
Minister S.B. Subedi, in his address, said we should not forget the contributions of people for recognition of Nepali language. He further expressed that language being our identity must be protected and preserved.
The organizing committee felicitated minister S.B. Subedi and MLA Sonam Dadul Bhutia for their contributions towards the society as public representatives.
