Sikkim | “It is my vow to repay the debt of Upper Burtuk’s people”, says Golay

GANGTOK | August 30, 2018:

On Wednesday, President of Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM), Prem Singh Golay reached Upper Luing and addressed the people of Upper Burtuk constituency.

Golay had been elected twice from Upper Burtuk in 2009 and 2014. He, however, was disqualified in January 2017 as a member of Sikkim Legislative Assembly following his conviction in a corruption case.

"People of Upper Burtuk constituency made history by electing me for two terms and time will evaluate this. I will never forget this and it is my vow to repay the debt of the people of Upper Burtuk. People of Upper Burtuk suffered many hardships for me and I apologize to them. No force can stop the formation of a Garib Ko Sarkar in 2019 due to your energy and determination," said Golay.

As per SKM release, Golay said the people of Sikkim are ready to teach the ruling Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF) party a lesson in 2019 election. The trust of people cannot be bought by black money, he said.

The SKM president appealed the gathering to support the SKM. We will liberate Sikkim from communalism, nepotism, corruption, and unemployment and hand over Sikkim to the new generation, he said.

Golay also commented on the ongoing protest of the students at NIT Sikkim campus in Rabongla. The students are boycotting the classes as there is no permanent campus of the NIT Sikkim and Sikkim is getting a bad name across the country which is unfortunate, he said. The issue must be resolved immediately, he demanded
