Northeast houses “crorepati” chief ministers: Find out the “richest” CM in NE

Northeast India is once known for housing the "poorest" Chief Minister in India and that man is none other than former Tripura CM, Manik Sarkar, who according to his 2018 affidavit, owns a total assets of Rs 33 lakh with movable asset worth only Rs 3,930.

But what you don't know is that the region now houses all "crorepati" chief ministers with Arunachal Pradesh's CM — Pema Khandu being the richest chief minister in the Northeast owning a total assets of Rs 129 crore (as according to his 2014 affidavit).

Here is a list of the total assets owned by the Chief Ministers of all the 8 states in Northeast India: 

 1. Assam:

Sarbananda Sonowal: The 56-yr-old chief minister of Assam, who represents Majuli constituency, has a total assets of Rs 1 crore (1,85,44, 919 as according to his 2016 affidavit) while his liabilities stand Rs 2,92,000.

Arunachal Pradesh: 

Pema Khandu: The 39-yr-old chief minister of Arunachal Pradesh, who represents Mukto constituency, has a total assets of Rs 129 crore (1,29,57,56,014 as according to his 2014 affidavit).

Meghalaya: 

Conrad K Sangma: The 40-yr-old chief minister of Meghalaya, who represents South Tura constituency, recently declared a total assets of Rs 5 crore (5,33,81,378) with liabilities of Rs 1 crore (1,58,06,933). He was recently inducted as the 60th member of the Legislative Assembly following a landslide victory in South Tura.

Nagaland: 

Neiphiu Rio: As of 2018, The 67-yr-old chief minister of Nagaland, who represents Northern Angami II constituency, declared a total assets of Rs 36 crore ( 36,41,65,827).

Tripura: 

Biplab Kumar Deb: As of 2018, the 48-yr-old chief minister of Tripura, who represents Banamalipur constituency (West Tripura), has a total assets of Rs 2 crore (2,13,93,539) and liabilities stand at Rs 27,79,408.

Manipur: 

N Biren Singh: As of 2017, this 57-yr-old chief minister of Manipur, who represents Heingang constituency, has a total assets worth Rs 1 crore (1,56,63,489) while his liabilities stand at Rs  47,97,533.

Mizoram: 

Lal Thanhawla: While the state gears up for its Assembly elections later this year, let us have a look at the total assets owned by the 76-yr-old chief minister of Mizoram (according to the 2013 affidavit). Thanhawla, who represents Serchhip constituency, has a total assets of Rs 9 crore (9,15,45,980) with liabilities of Rs 14 lakh (14,12,827).

Sikkim: 

Pawan Chamling: This 66-yr-old chief minister of Sikkim (longest serving chief minister in India), who represents Namchi Singhithang (South) constituency, has a total assets of Rs 10 crore (10,70,25,466 as according to his 2014 affidavit) while his liabilities stand at Rs 5 crore (5,04,53,445).
