Meghalaya: St George School principal hospitalized hours after arrest

In a new twist to the assault and molestation case slapped at the principal of St George HS School, Shillong, Simon Joseph by two activists, the accused principal who was arrested on Tuesday afternoon, has been admitted in Shillong Civil Hospital after he complained of some health problems.
"Hours after his arrest, the accused person complained of some health complications while he was taken for a medical checkup and doctors later suggested that he should be admitted," EKH superintendent of police (City) Stephen Rynjah said here on Wednesday.
Joseph was arrested on Tuesday after police received a fresh FIR alleging of similar kind of crime committed by him and it appeared that his presence was intimidating the victim in the school.
Meanwhile, CSWO president Agnes Kharshiing has demanded a medical board to examine the accused person. "A person who has been accused of torturing students should not be allowed to get away so easily, no matter what or who is he," Kharshiing said.
The principal's 'dark secret' came to light after an FIR was filed against him by two activists — Napolean Mawphniang and Agnes Kharshiing on May 26. According to the FIR copy, the principal would beat his students black and blue which according to the activists amount to corporal punishment.

It was further alleged that he usually behaved inappropriately with a female teacher, who just recently resigned.
Meanwhile, CSWO president Agnes Kharshiing said that she had filed one more FIR as the accused had brought one of the warden back to the hostel and was trying to intimidate the victim. The students who were brought to the Shillong civil hospital for medical check up today evening demanded justice and thorough inquiry into the matter.
