Meghalaya: St George School principal alleged of assault, molestation; FIR filed

By Our Reporter, TNT News | Shilong, May 26, 2018:
In another suspected case of molestation, a principal of St George HS School, Shillong, Simon Joseph was alleged of beating, stalking, blackmailing and outraging the modesty of his girl students.
The matter came to light after an FIR was filed against him by two activists — Napolean Mawphniang and Agnes Kharshiing today.
According to the FIR copy, the principal would beat his students black and blue which according to the activists amount to corporal punishment.
It was further alleged that he usually behaved inappropriately with a female teacher, who just recently resigned.
"He would sometimes touch my legs and say – you have nice legs and would also asked for a kiss, which is unbecoming of a principal" the teacher said adding that she left the school as she couldn't take it anymore.
The victim also stated that no one was allowed to carry mobiles inside the school campus as he allegedly fears that some students or teachers might capture his malicious actions.
Three minor boys and a class 10 female student and a female teacher have been brought to Shillong Civil Hospital on Saturday evening for medical check up.
Meanwhile, one of the minor boys alleged that the principal would brutally beat them even if they are late for a minute, if they cannot answer a question or of they miss adding a question mark.
Condemning this incident, activist and CSWO president, Agnes Kharshiing said that she has informed the authorities about such acts because it is not expected of a principal of a school to act in such a manner putting children under fear.
"We hope that authorities will take action as children don't lie and the injuries are such that he cannot give any other explanation", Kharshiing said.
When contacted, the principal of St George HS School, Simon Jospeh denied all the allegations leveled against him and said the injury marks in the students' bodies were 'probably' caused during Karate lessons in school.
"These are all baseless allegations and they are fabricated by someone who has personal or professional enmity", said Joseph.
