Meghalaya: Man arrested for inappropriately touching woman

A man was arrested on Wednesday for inappropriately touching a woman at Mawkyrwat market in South West Khasi Hills.

The man has been identified as Willbok Lyngdoh Mawshillong, 23, of Mawten village in the same district. He has been arrested by police and forwarded to court.

The woman filed an FIR at Mawkyrwat Police Station where she stated that the incident took place on Wednesday night at around 9:30 pm when the woman was returning home from her work.

'On reaching Mawkyrtwat market, Marshillong, who was under the influence of alcohol, grabbed the woman from behind and inappropriately touched her, muffled her mouth with his hand, slapped and threatened her with dire consequences', the FIR said.

South West Khasi Hills SP HG Lyngdoh informed that a case has been registered against the accused.
