Meghalaya: 3-week old baby thrown in water-filled bucket, dies in Shillong

In a shocking incident, a three-week old baby died, after he was thrown in a bucket full of water inside his parent's residence, by a masked man at Mission Compound, Shillong on the wee hours of Tuesday at around 2.30 am.

East Khasi Hills SP Davis R Marak informed that the masked man had forcefully broken into the house and then assaulted the mother who was fast sleep before running away with the baby.

The family members have called up the police as they had thought that the baby was kidnapped by the masked man.

According to the SP, after a thorough search, family members found the baby in a bucket. It was stated that the baby was initially alive but he expired on arrival at the Shillong Civil Hospital.

The police later arrested the masked man who is suspected to have committed the crime.
