FIFA WORLD CUP UPDATES

July 02, 2018:

And Brazil has done it again!

Five times World Cup champions, Brazil is definitely not going the same way as Germany, Argentina, Portugal and Spain. The South American football giant defeated Mexico 2-0 to proceed to the quarter finals of the FIFA World Cup 2018 in Russia.

Brazil's favourite, Neymar made his country proud after scoring the first goal in the 51st minute while Roberto Firmino fired a low shot towards the net, giving Brazil its second goal in the 88 minute.

It may be mentioned that this is the fifth encounter between Brazil and Mexico at the World Cup and like the previous four encounters, this time too, Mexico failed to bring down the football giant. Brazil and Mexico have met 40 times previously, with over half of those encounters ending in wins.

Mexico have been elimiated at this stage of the World Cup in each of their last seven World Cup appearances.
