The ace sprinter, apart from her tremendous performance at the IAAF, has also clinched a silver medal in the 400m finals Women's Final and gold in the women's relay race at the Asian Games 2018. However, Hima is accompanied by three other Indian sportswomen who has also shot to fame and won the hearts through their majestic performances in their respective fields. Rahi Sarnobat is the first Indian woman shooter who has won an individual Asian Games gold in the 25m pistol event. Vinesh Phogat is India's first gold medallist in women's wrestling at Asian Games 2018 and Swapna Barman is the heptathlete who turned the heads by bagging gold in the challenging track and field event, heptathlon.
The latest issue of Femina pays a tribute to these sportswomen of the country for their unmatchable performance along with also giving a glimpse of their lives.
Before this, UNICEF announced that it has appointed the lightning-fast sprinter Hima Das as India's Youth Ambassador. The International agency for emergency food and healthcare to children in countries devastated by World War II, made this announcement at a special event on November 14. As a Youth Ambassador, Hima would have to work towards raising awareness about the rights and needs of children along with also helping in amplifying the voices of children and young people. She will be responsible for encouraging the youth and children towards being active participants in decision making and contributing to their holistic development.
This is not all and the Assam girl is today endorsing the leading sportswear manufacturer Adidas. Today she wears Adidas shoes that have her name imprinted on the right show and "create history" on the left. However, Hima has also received the most coveted and prestigious Arjuna Award from the honourable President of the nation and this surely is more like a dream come true for the sportswoman hailing from a remote village in Assam.
