Assam: Two held for issuing fake appointment letter

GUWAHATI, June 4, 2018: Two persons were arrested by the police on Saturday night on the charges of allegedly issuing fake appointment letters and work orders of the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) and the Oil India Ltd.
The two were identified as Dip Jyoti Saikia and Samrat Roy. The duo were arrested from Hengerabari and Maligaon, more than 100 people have complained against them, sources said.
Investigation officer, Om Prakash Tiwari said, "They have been conducting the fraudulent activities since 2015. We have recovered stamps and some documents from them. The duo had promised jobs or contracts to several people and collected a lot of money as bribes from them".
The duo were apprehended based on a complaint filed by Arabinda Deka, a businessman of lower Assam's Nalbari district. "A huge racket in the NFR issues fake work orders. We are investigating the case. The main culprit will be nabbed soon," he added. The duo have been booked under relevant sections of the IPC.
