Assam: Three held for carrying gold in rectums

GUWAHATI, July 16, 2018: In a case of gold smuggling, Customs Department and the CISF officials arrested three persons on Sunday from Silchar and Guwahati Airports and managed to recover a total of 2 kgs of gold bars. The estimated value of the gold is Rs 50 lakh.

The gold was hidden inside their rectums.
Two persons were identified as Barkat Khan and Rajendra Sribar and were held at the Silchar Airport with total 10 gold biscuits weighing 1.6 kgs. The duo were travelling from Imphal to Delhi via Kolkata.
In another case of smuggling, one D Nandigiri, who was carrying a 400 gm gold bar in his rectum, was arrested at the Guwahati Airport.
The accused was travelling from Guwahati to Mumbai with the consignment.
