Assam: Sub-inspector shoots self with official gun at Dudhnoi
GUWAHATI, June 18, 2018: In an incident that took place in the city, a sub-inspector shot himself at Dudhnoi police station on Saturday night at his residential quarter.
The man has been identified as Upendra Nath Talukdar (55) hailing from Patacharkuchi in Barpeta district, killed himself with his 9mm service pistol.
The body of the deceased was found on Sunday morning with a bullet lodged in his head.
Senior police officials rushed to the spot and his body has been sent for post mortem.
Superitendent of police, Amitava Sinha said, "Talukdar had joined the service in Goalpara district after a promotion transfer as a sub-inspector in December last year. He had about five years of service left. He was suffering from various diseases, including diabetes. He reportedly was also suffering from depression".
Talukdar is survived by two daughters and a son.
