Assam: Six supply agents held in alleged scam in Nagaon

GUWAHATI, July 17, 2018: Six supply agents were arrested on Monday by chief minister's vigilance cell in an alleged Rs 11. 64 crore scam that includes pilferage of PDS wheat meant for public distribution from Batradava Satra Samabai Samiti Limited, a co-operative society under the food and civil supplies department in Nagaon district.

The arrests were made following a recent complaint lodged by Gunakanta Bora and 21 other share holders of the society, police said.
A statement issued by Assam police headquarters said, "According to the FIR, an inquiry held into the misappropriation and pilferage of PDS items, primarily wheat, over a period from 2011 to 2017, revealed serious anomalies in distribution of the same through the samiti. The agents of the samiti were arrested for their involvement in the conspiracy along with other similar agents."
The six agents have been identified as Mohammad Moharuddin, Kasem Ali, Ahmat Ali, Kubesh Ali, Abdul Rahman and Samsher Ali.
