Assam | Former HC Chief Justice’s son surrenders in Maligaon hit-and-run case

GUWAHATI | August 20, 2018:

On Monday, the prime accused Abhinash Sharma in the Maligaon hit-and-run case has surrendered before the Jalukbari Police

The incident which took place on August 14th evening in Maligoan had seen hundreds of local residents assembling with candle lights demanding justice in the hit-and-run case.

Due to protest and media coverage which resulted in building pressure upon the police who later sent a notice to the accused Abhinash Sharma to present himself at the Jalukbari Police Station.

There were allegations that the police were trying to delay the arrest and investigation as the accused was the son of a retired High Court Chief Justice.

The deceased identified as Ganesh Rao lost his life and a few others got injured when Abhinash Sharma allegedly rammed them with his car and ran away from the accident spot.
