Assam Finance Min Himanta Biswa files Rs 100 cr defamation suit against ABP News

Assam Finance Minister and senior BJP leader, Himanta Biswa Sarma on Thursday filed a Rs 100 crore defamation suit against a news channel, ABP News before the Civil Judge,Sr division, Kamrup District, Guwahati.

An outraged Sarma took to Twitter yesterday pouring out his view on the matter. He tweeted -"I am outraged by a @abpnewstv News report linking me to a person whom I have never met or known in my life. @abpnewstv news report has defamed me in public light."

It was informed that in a recent news report telecast by the TV channel, the minister's name was linked to a power broker in New Delhi, Anju Poddar that has  reportedly prompted the PMO to ask the Enforcement Directorate to hold an inquiry to check the veracity of the news.
