Assam: 8 minor girls rescued from railway station at Sivasagar

GUWAHATI | August 8, 2018:
Atleast eight minors were rescued from the clutches of traffickers by Sapekhati Police with the help of Brihattar Asomiya Yuba Mancha (BAYM) activists on Monday.
BAYM activists based on the information from the locals called the police and they jointly rescued the minor girls.

The minor girls were being smuggled by the traffickers near Bhojo Railway Station, Assam.
Sources informed that the traffickers managed to escape from the site, the rescued girls were handed over to their parents after medical treatment.
All the minor girls belonged to the poor families of tea garden labours and were lured by the traffickers with a promise of providing good job and education, said sources.
