Agartala – CPI(M) MP from Tripura Jitendra Choudhury on April 14 made an appeal to the Biplab Deb led government in Tripura to ensure the rights of the job card holders under the provisions of MG-NREGA while stating that certain blocks in the state have not been implementing certain government schemes.
In a press release, he stated that the entire Kokborok and Silacharri Block areas being comparatively a dry and border zone, the families belong to the BPL categories and are largely dependent on the wage work during the period under the MG-NREGA or any other government schemes. It was also stated that since the month of February, no work was provided by the blocks or any other government departments in the sub division. He also added that if this apathy continues for two to three more weeks, it may lead to a near famine like situation in hilly areas. On inquiry from the DM and collector, it was learnt that some release may take place only next week.
He also threw light on the fact that unlike the previous years, this year the sub division has gone 'totally jobless' and not a single manday has been released and that the village committee offices in Kokborok sub division remains closed, BACs are not holding their regular meetings leading to the hampering of public interest.
Jitendra Choudhury went on to appeal through the release that the job card holders be provided with their due rights under the provisions of MG-NREGA, 100man days in a year and a wage of Rs. 340 per man day as assured by the BJP-IPFT election manifesto.
