AGARTALA:

Amid the ongoing tension between Assam and Mizoram, Tripura royal scion Pradyot Deb Barma has stated that Tripura will extend its humanitarian support to Mizoram.

Barma said that the people of Tripura are willing to extend the support in whichever way possible so that there is no scarcity in the supply of essential commodities in Mizoram.

The tension between Assam and Mizoram after the violent clash on July 26 led to blockade of road through which goods enter Mizoram, and this has compelled the Mizoram government to seek assistance from neighbouring Tripura and Mizoram.

Barma had a conversation with Mizoram Sports Minister Robert Romawia Royte in this regard, and stated that Tiprasa must rise to show NE that we can also offer assistance to others in times of need.

According to an official statement, 20 trucks carrying fuel and LPG are returning to Mizoram from Tripura.

Meanwhile, Kolasib Deputy Commissioner H Lalthangliana said that no vehicle has entered Mizoram from Assam since the violent clash, even as the Assam government maintains that no group is staging any blockade on NH 306, Mizoram's lifeline.
