Nagaland: Odd-even traffic regulations extended in Dimapur


KOHIMA | AUG 16, 2020:

Dimapur police on Sunday, August 16, extended the odd-even traffic regulations for non-­essential vehicular movement within Dimapur town and from National Highway-29 till Chumukedima town, till August 31.

Commissioner of Police, Dimapur Rothihu Tetseo said that the traffic regulation has been done in the interest of public safety during the prevailing COVID-19 pandemic and appealed to all the citizens to cooperate for the safety of all.

Vehicles with registration numbers ending with odd numbers will be allowed to ply on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday while those with ending even numbers will be allowed to ply on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday. However, restrictions will not be enforced on Sundays.

Meanwhile, vehicles on essential services and government duties will be exempted from the purview of this restriction on the production of relevant documents and valid ID proof.

Two-wheelers will also be exempted from the traffic restriction.

All heavy vehicles, except those engaged in the four-lane construction work with a valid permit, will be restricted from 9 AM to 3 PM.

The police said that violators will be penalized under the Motor Vehicles (MV) Act 1988.
