CTAN and CEAN, after filing for an RTI, received their response on 8 Nov 2018 which brought to light that there are 29 S.O Grade-II, 7 Surveyor and 7 Draftman in Nagaland Public Works Department, all under "backdoor" temporary basis.

All the said appointments were made between 6-06-2016 to 10-08-2018 without any advertisement and departmental examination being conducted.

The Associations had first submitted their representation to the Engineer in Chief NPWD on 7 Feb 2019 requesting the department to act upon the random appointment and to terminate the said appointments within 20 days but the Association failed to get any response.

The 2nd representation was submitted on Nov 25, yet no attain was paid to the grievances of the educated unemployed youths.

Adding more fuel to the issue the department instead of addressing and resolving the issue came out advertisement for 9 posts on 23rd Nov, 2019.

The silence of the concerned authorities on the issue led the Association's to come out on the streets holding placards protesting and demanding for the termination of the backdoor appointment.

CTAN and CEAN today submitted a memorandum stating that the Association's stands firm on their demand for termination of the above said backdoor services and also with it's decision of not allowing any departmental exams till the demands are made.

The Association also warned that their peaceful sit-in protest will be intensified with the delay in delivering justice by the concerned authorities.

The Associations also informed that the Commissioner & Secretary (Works & housing) will convene a meeting on 17 Dec at 11am with the representatives of Combine Technical Association of Nagaland (CTAN) and Civil Engineer's Association of Nagaland (CEAN).
