Here are the five facts you need to know about Dr. Temsu Jamir:

#1. Dr. Temsu Changkiri was one of the senior most Naga surgeons, better known as Dr. Temsu Jamir.

#2. Noted as an eminent doctor among the medical fraternity, Dr. Temsu was also known as a philanthropist by many for giving free services and medications to the poor.

#3. Dr. Temsu started his medical career in the early 1960s joining the Jorhat Mission Hospital as a Medical Officer in 1964 and later did his Post Graduation in medicine from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) before coming out as a Master of Surgery (MS) in 1970.

#4. Dr. Temsu then joined the Government of Nagaland but subsequently left to set up one of the first nursing homes in the state in 1978 – Fellowship Nursing Home at Duncan Basti, Dimapur.

#5. The nursing home also gave rise to the name of the locality around it and Dr. Temsu would play a pivotal role in the growth of Fellowship Colony as one of its founding fathers and First Chairman of the colony council.
