Sonia Gandhi accepts Lal Thanhawla’s resignation as Mizoram PCC president

Terming Lal Thanhawla as the most loyal member of the Congress, Gandhi said that the last 40 years has been an era of immense progress, peace and prosperity in Mizoram in which Lal Thanhawla has played a crucial role.

Congress president Sonia Gandhi on December 4 accepted the resignation of Mizoram Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) president Dr Lal Thanhawla, and said that his legacy will be carried forward by his successor.

"I am confident that the rich legacy you have bequeathed will be carried forward by your successor. As I invite you to become a member of the CWC, I know that the Congress party and I will greatly benefit from your wise advice and vast knowledge and experience,” said Gandhi. 

Terming Lal Thanhawla as the most loyal member of the Congress, Gandhi said that the last 40 years has been an era of immense progress, peace and prosperity in Mizoram in which Lal Thanhawla has played a crucial role.

Lal Thanhawla, who served as Chief Minister of Mizoram for several terms, submitted his resignation earlier in November, stating that he would like to make ways for the youths.
