SHILLONG:

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) legislator A.L. Hek said that the Harijan Panchayat Committee (HPC) should welcome the recommendation of the High-Level Committee (HLC).

“The government has arranged accommodations for them (residents) and they should agree (to relocate),” said Hek, adding that there is need to clean up Sweeper’s Colony and give the residents a comfortable place to live.

On October 8, the Harijan Panchayat Committee (HPC) had rejected the state government's High-Level Committee (HLC) report on the relocation of the residents of the Sweeper's Colony, stating that the report has “no basis”.
