SHILLONG:

Leader of Opposition Mukul Sangma on Tuesday predicted that the people’s decision in the upcoming bye-elections to the three Assembly seats will be against the lack of governance under the National People's Party-led Meghalaya Democratic Alliance government

His statement came soon after the Election Commission of India had announced bye-elections to the three seats of Mawryngkneng, Mawphlang, and Rajabala.

On the candidates for the bye-polls, Sangma said, “There is a system in the party... it is not decided by an individual. We have the Pradesh election committee, then the AICC (All India Congress Committee)". He added that only after the process is followed can any decision be shared with the voters.

Despite the limited time to prepare for the bye-elections, Sangma said Congress is prepared to ensure no resources are wasted. He added that every party was in the same situation.

As per the orders of the Election Commission, the polling will be held on October 30 and counting on November 2.
