Meghalaya: Shops in major commercial hubs to open on rotational basis from June 8


Shillong, June 8:

The Deputy Commissioner of East Khasi Hills, Matsiewdor War today issued notification on the opening of shops operating in the major commercial hubs in the city like Police Bazaar and Motphran from Monday even though Iewduh market will continue to remain closed.

In compliance with the order of the political department, War stated in the notification that shops operating from fixed premise falling under Police Bazaar, GS Road, Keating Road, Jail RoadCantonment and Motphran will be opened.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Commissioner said that barber shops , beauty parlours, cyber café, gaming parlours, jackpot parlours, teer counters and lottery counters shall continue to remain close till further orders.

On the reopening of shopping malls, she said that alternate shops on rotation basis will be opened in shopping malls/complexes from Monday.

The Deputy Commissioner said that the owner of the shopping malls/complexes and the respective shopkeepers shall strictly adhere to the alternate operating of the shops on rotation basis and they should comply to the SOPs of the government and instructions issued by the district administration.

According to her, gaming arcades, children play area, cinema hall inside shopping complexes and mall shall remain closed.

'No loitering is allowed in shopping malls/complexes, only customers can enter to make purchase and exit immediately thereafter without fail," War added.
