Meghalaya: Health Min. AL Hek dropped from MDA cabinet, Sanbor Shullai to likely replace

By Daiaphira Kharsati | SHILLONG:
BJP leader and health minister A.L. Hek has been dropped from the cabinet of the MDA government and his fellow party legislator Sanbor Shullai is all set to replace him, sources told The Northeast Today (TNT) on Tuesday.
The swearing-in will be held in Raj Bhavan on Tuesday evening.
"Yes, he (Hek) has been dropped and in Sanbor Shullai will replace him. It is an arrangement from Delhi high command," sources from the BJP confirmed.
Sources close to the MDA government also said that it was an internal deliberation of the BJP following which it was decided that "Sanbor will be sworn in today at 4 pm."
"It was so surprising and no one knew if this could happen but then Sanbor has hinted at sharing of the Cabinet berth," the source said.
Meanwhile, Hek could not be reached for comment but TNT learned that he has resigned from the cabinet.
When TNT reached out to Shullai, he said, "I don't know. I am waiting for the mail from Delhi."
Hek, who has previously shown interest to lead the BJP in the state, is likely to take charge from current president Ernest Mawrie.
Meanwhile, taking an unusual stance considering the limitations of the cabinet, Mawrie said, "We would be very happy if both our MLAs become ministers."
