Meghalaya: GSI employees get crèche facility in Shillong

SHILLONG:

The Geological Survey of India (GSI) inaugurated a crèche for its employees working at its Shillong office in Rynjah, North-Eastern Region recently.

Inaugurating the facility, D.D.G & HoD, Dr J Rajeshwar, said that the initiative has been taken in compliance with the government of India’s welfare measures namely, 'Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao'.

"The inauguration of crèche will go a long way in spreading the message and encourage women to take up government jobs,” Dr Rajeshwar said.

The GSI said that the facility is meant for women who come from far-flung areas. “It will help employees, especially women employees, as they would be able to leave their kids in the creche as they work,” he said.

The inauguration programme also saw the presence of top officials of the GSI, North-Eastern region.
