Meghalaya: Edu deptt prepares action plan on re-opening of schools post lockdown



The Meghalaya Education Department is ready with it's action plan on the re-opening of the educational institutions if the lock down to combat COVID-19 is not extended.

"We will be finalising on the action plan if there is no extension of the lock down. However, we will again have to revisit today's suggestions and views if lockdown is extended," Principal Secretary in charge of f Education department, DP Wahlang told reporters after the meeting with the stakeholders here on Saturday.

He also said that they will also need to have a discussion with the Health and Family Welfare department before taking any final decision on the re-opening of the schools.


Meanwhile, Wahlang said the meeting also discussed exemption of school fees during lockdown period of March, April and May for those students whose parents are daily wage earners, low income families as per the statistics available with the school.

that the people who are affected by the lockdown will not have to pay the fees from March till May.

"A final decision on the non payment of fees will have to be decided by the managing committee of the various schools," Principal Secretary informed.


Wahlang, however, said that the evaluation of the answer scripts of the SSLC examination have already started. "The SSLC results was declared on May 26 last year. This year we will not be far behind in announcement of the results," he added.
