If elected, I’ll work for upliftment of farmers in Mawryngkneng: Independent candidate Esron Marwein

Esron Marwein, the independent candidate from Mawryngkneng constituency in the upcoming bye-polls, has exuded confidence that the people vote will for him, given the positive response he is getting during campaigning.

“I had never planned to contest the election, but the people and religious leaders prompted me to contest and with that encouragement, I decided to enter the game," Marwein said, adding that the people have bestowed their trust on him and if elected, he will focus on “core areas” including agriculture, health, education, livelihood, social and empowerment.

“In Mawryngkneng 80-90% of people are farmers and the farming sector needs attention. So, my top priority is the upliftment of farmers, to an extent where their livelihood will be upgraded and there will be opportunities for them," Marwein added.

This year, the candidates eyeing a victory from the Mawryngkneng seat are – National People’s Party (NPP) candidate Pyniaid Syiem, Congress’ Highlander Kharmalki and three independent candidates-Arbiangkam Kharsohmat, Norbert Marboh and Esron Marweiñ.
