Clear directions given to authorities to strengthen checking at entry points, says Deputy CM Tynsong

Following reports of entry of outsiders in the state, Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong said that the government has issued directions to all concerned government authorities to be vigilant and to strengthen the checking system at every entry point.
He said that the government had a meeting on entry of outsiders and clear directions have been issued that the entry points need to be strengthened at every point.
“We have issued a very clear direction to all the district administration, Deputy Commissioners and SPs that they need to strengthen their checking in every entry point and they need to check every vehicle because right now we are under lockdown and we are not supposed to allow anybody to enter East Khasi Hills and even Ri Bhoi district,” he said.
Tynsong added people are not allowed to enter the districts during lockdown except for emergency services and few necessary services and that too with prior permission from the concerned Deputy Commissioners.
It may be mentioned that the Khasi Students Union (KSU) Eastern Border area circle on May 19 apprehended 21 outsiders at Umroi bye-pass and the Hynniewtrep Youth Council Mawlai circle also apprehended 10 outsiders from Assam on May 20.
