The government of the day should understand the sensitivity and seriousness of this issue. "It is my firm belief that the leaders of this region, be it community leaders, social and civil societies' leaders, will not align with this agenda," he added.

Targeting Assam Chief Minister, Sarbananda Sonowal, the LO said leaders like Sonowal had said that he will protect the interests of the people of Assam; "How will he protect now?" questioned Sangma.

"These people, who have stood for the interest of the region, where are they now? They are sacrificing everything just because of their greed for power," he said.

"This is too much … what is going to be the fall out. this government should be able to anticipate what is going to be the fallout," he stated.

Predicting that the fallout will be dissent, anger and that will create chaos and disorder, Sangma questioned "How are they going to contain such fallout, are they going to crush our people then?"
