Meghalaya: Straw-laden vehicle goes up in flames near Shillong Civil Hospital

SHILLONG:

A vehicle transporting paddy straw caught fire near Shillong Civil Hospital, Meghalaya, on Wednesday evening.

According to East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police, S Nongtnger, a Bolero Pickup (ML-10-A-8083) caught fire at Boucher Road.

"It was parked opposite the Human Rights Office. The driver, out of fear, drove the vehicle towards Rhino but traffic personnel asked him to reverse the vehicle and to take it towards Boucher Road which is less crowded," Nongtnger said.

"The fire service arrived on time and doused the fire," he added.

The cause of the fire has not been ascertained. Police reported no casualties.
