Manipur: Infant killed, Pastor & family injured in road accident in Ukhrul


IMPHAL | Oct 5, 2019:

In an unfortunate incident, a two-year-old infant lost his life and seven others of the same family sustained injuries when a vehicle they were traveling in skidded off the road and fell into a 20 feet deep gorge at Jessami road junction in Awang Kasom of Ukhrul district, Manipur.

The accident took place on October 4. The occupants include Rev Happyson, the Pastor of Awang Kasom Church and his family members. They were travelling from Ukhrul to Awang Kasom when the mishap happened.

Immediately, a Quick Reaction Team of Assam Rifles was rushed from the Company Operating Base at Awang Kasom along with Nursing assistant. The team responded swiftly and rescued the passengers and got them to safety.

Seven family members who were rescued were provided with emergency medical treatment at the site. However, a two years old infant unfortunately lost his life due to injuries suffered during the accident.
