Police seize drugs, arms and ammunition in Manipur; three arrested


IMPHAL | JUNE 14, 2020:

A joint team of Manipur Police and commandos arrested three persons in connection with a seizure of arms and ammunition along with brown sugar in two separate operations on Friday.

During a regular vehicle check routine, the combined team arrested two different cars travelling towards Imphal from Moreh at Kondong Lairembi police check-post.

In one of the incidents, the police arrested a driver identified as Khaijamang Touthang and seized six fourth-generation Glock 21 pistols with 12 magazines, six cleaning rods, 12 pairs of pistol grips and 6 'H' shaped plastic fibre accessories.

On the same day, the team arrested two other persons, including a woman, and seized around 839 grams of brown sugar. The arrested persons have been identified as Zamkhosei and Vakneijem Gangte.

After a thorough check of the vehicle which the two arrested persons travelled in, the police seized more than 70 packets of brown sugar concealed in the soap cases inside the back seat of the vehicle.

Meanwhile, the arrested persons and the seized items have been handed over to Moreh Police

The police have registered a case against the arrested persons.
