Manipur: Workers’ strike for implementation of 7th Pay Commission continues


IMPHAL, April 26, 2018: As the cease work strike demanding for implementation of the 7th Pay Commission recommendations completes thirty five days, three departments staged sit-ins in their respective departments on Wednesday.

Employees of the Department of Town Planning, Command Area Development and Social Welfare staged the protest.

Speaking to media persons, one of the employees of the Command Area Development Department, Ali said the state should implement the 7th pay commission pay scale immediately. He added that the Department of Town Planning and the Department of Command Area Development will support every step taken by the JAC of AMTUC and AMGEO until the demands are not fulfilled.

Another employee, of the Social Welfare Department, Tokyo said most of the prices of essential commodities in the state have risen sky-high and they cannot meet such ends with the present salary awarded to the employees. He appealed the state to implement the central pay scale immediately for the welfare of all employees.
