Assam: Prasanta Phukan retains Dibrugarh seat for fourth time
Dibrugarh BJP legislator Prasanta Phukan retained the Dibrugarh Legislative Assembly constituency seat for the fourth time with a margin of 38,005.
Prasanta Phukan secured 68,762 votes.
The Dibrugarh seat is one of the prestigious seat in Assam and BJP's senior leader Prasanta Phukan have won the the seat for the fourth time since 2006.
"The people of Dibrugarh love me because I worked for them in the past three years. The people want development and in our last five years we have done lots of development in Dibrugarh," Phukan said.
BJP has been dominating the Dibrugarh seat since 2006 and it become a fort for Prasanta Phukan.
BJP's strongman Himanta Biswa Sarma campaigned for Prasanta Phukan which saw huge gathering in the road show.
Meanwhile, a victory procession was restricted in Assam due to Covid-19 protocol and raising cases of Covid-19.
