Kaziranga Tiger seeks shelter in loafing shed


GUWAHATI | JULY 14, 2020:

Kaziranga national park has been witnessing incessant rains that have been posing a real threat to the habitat of the wild-life.

In one such situation, a Bengal tiger was spotted to have taken shelter under a loafing shed.

"A sub-adult tiger entered a goat shed in Kandolimari Village (Agartoli Range) to escape the flood. Utmost care is being taken to ensure the safety of both people and the tiger," the Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Reserve tweeted.

The sanctuary is home to many animal and bird species, the endangered one-horned Indian Rhino and presently, 95% of its land is covered by the flood.

"All efforts are being made to rescue the tiger," P Sivakumar, the director of the park, said.

The department has constituted a team to look after the situation at regular intervals.
