DIBRUGARH:

Two new oxygen generation plants were officially made functional at the Assam Medical College and Hospital (AMCH) in Dibrugarh on Wednesday.

The plants were inaugurated by AMCH Principal-cum-Chief Superintendent Sanjeeb Kakati.

The oxygen plants will generate 200 jumbo oxygen cylinders daily.

"Each of the oxygen generation plants will produce gas equivalent to 100 numbers of jumbo cylinders. The daily consumption of AMCH is 120 to 140 cylinders which will be directly supplied to the hospital through the pipeline," said Kakati.

He said the rest of the oxygen equivalent to 60-70 jumbo cylinders will be kept on reserve in case of an increase in demand at AMCH.

The construction of the oxygen plants was started in October 2020 under the aegis of the Union Government and supervision of the State Government.
