Assam to install advance traffic system to reduce accidents in state
GUWAHATI |November 26, 2018:
Assam is going to install an advance modern traffic signal system with automatic surveillance and monitoring facilities.
As per sources, the Assam government is laying much stress on the better traffic signals which can reduce accidents at various corners of traffic junctures.
At least eleven cities have implemented the new system initially which includes Guwahati, Silchar, Diphu, Bhubri, Nagaon, Lakhimpur, Dibrugarh, Kokrajhar, Tinsukia, Jorhat and Tezpur.
Sources said that the advance traffic signal system will provide better surveillance and monitoring facilities like automatic number plate recording, speed detection and a device to send alert signals to traffic police personnel. The detailed project reports (DPRs) of all the eleven cities and towns have been completed and submitted to the State government.
