Assam: Ten BCPL employees test Covid-19 positive

Ten employees of Brahmaputra Cracker and Polymer Limited (BCPL) tested positive for COVID-19 in Assam.

According to sources, most of the employees, who contracted the virus, had come from other states. 

“Many of them have been admitted to the hospital while some are under home isolation,” a BCPL source said. 

Chief Manager of Brahmaputra Cracker and Polymer Limited (BCPL) Manab Jyoti Dowerah (45) died of COVID infection at around 11.30 am at Assam Medical College & Hospital (AMCH) in Dibrugarh on Wednesday.

Dowerah, hailing from Jorhat in upper Assam, was undergoing treatment at AMCH for the last couple of days.

“We condoled the sudden demise of Manab Jyoti Dowerah. He was undergoing treatment at AMCH after testing positive for COVID-19,” a BCPL official said.

On Friday, 1824 tests were conducted in the Dibrugarh district and, 24 positive cases were detected.
