Assam MLAs without govt residence to receive rent allowance

GUWAHATI:
Assam Legislative Assembly Speaker Biswajit Daimary, informed that the elected legislators of the Assembly will be entitled to receive Rs. 25,000 per month as rent allowance, in case of failure to book a government residence at the newly constructed buildings of MLA colony.
The government has decided to provide the allowance to the MLAs as an aid to manage their own residence.
In various cases, the legislators have failed to receive a brand-new residence even before their oath-taking ceremony.
Daimary added that the order shall come to immediate effect owing to the disagreements between the MLAs of the Legislative Assembly, concerning their government apartments.
