Assam: 4 cops injured in a mob attack in Lakhimpur district


GUWAHATI | May 1, 2020:

In Assam, four police personnel were injured in a mob attack in Lakhimpur district on Thursday evening.

According to sources, a large number of people had gathered at the mosque of Pandhua Kuet area after Iftar attacked the security personnel by pelting stones.

After receiving the information, a police team of Naoboicha police station rushed to the spot and appealed to the people to maintain social distancing norms to contain the spread coronavirus.

The officer-in-charge of Naoboicha police station and three other security personnel were injured in the mob attack. A police vehicle was also damaged.

Later, additional security personnel rushed to the area and rescued the injured personnel.

The situation is now under control and police have engaged to enforce the lockdown rules strictly said Lakhimpur district Superintendent of Police Rajveer Singh.
